Habitat: Overgrown yard on E-facing slope, Acer saccharum, A. negundo, Fraxinus americana.
Occurrence Remarks: Perhaps a cultivated ornamental, but hisory uncertain. Voucher for wood specimens Kw, Lw, MADw.; Shrub 2 m. tall, with several stems of various sizes in a tight clump, 2.2 cm. in diameter, the rings hard to count; freshly cut wood with unpleasant odor of Viburnum and Valerianceae. Sterile flowers on periphery of inflorescence are bright white, the central perfect flowers are creamy white and all still in bud stage.
