United States, Wisconsin, Crawford, 6.5 km (straight line) WSW of Wauzeka, between the Wisconsin and Southern railroad tracks (this railroad put through in 1857) and Wisconsin River, E (upstream) of Bush Creek.

Thin floodplain woods with marshy openings, Acer saccharinum, Salix nigra, Ulmus americana, Populus deltoides, Quercus bicolor, Fraxinus pennsylvanica. With Rumex verticillatus, Carex lupulina, Iris virginica, Ribes americanum.
Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw.; Shrub, now in shallow water, to 3 m. tall, 2.1 cm. in diameter, 6 or 7 years old, the stems leaning and/or arching and some longer than 3 m, forming a loose clump of ca. 20 living stems; ptih tan. leaves very pale beneath.
