Habitat: Wet-mesic native prairie remnant on Crawfish River floodplain, deeply flooded in 2008.

Occurrence Remarks: Forming dense colonies; rhizomes intertwined, hard, tough; clums erect to reclining, many twisted, flat, ca. 30-40 inches long; spikelets often absent or rudimentary. Abundant, locally dominant.
