Habitat: Marshy are with Phalaris arundinacea, Boehmeria cylindrica, at edge of Acer saccharinum floodplain forest, mostly unshaded.
Occurrence Remarks: Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw.; Slender, few-branched stems to 3.5 m. tall, with a few stems (up to 5) in a clump. This stem 3 cm. in diameter, 12 years old; sapwood pale yellowish, thr "heartwood" purplish, irregular as if a fungal stain; sapwood/heartwood configuration very similiar to that of the Asian Caragana arborescens. Fruit green.
