Habitat: Marshy areas, open and springy or lightly shaded by Salix x fragilis, S. nigra, S. amygdaloides, Acer negundo, Juglans nigra, along small creek.
Occurrence Remarks: Tree with 2 trunks, 25 cm. in diameter. Twigs brittle at base. Leaves glaucous below, red when very young and unfolding; petioles red.
