Habitat:
Steep S-facing bluff prairie with many loose dolomite rocks. With very old remnants of fence at the bottom so undoubtedly once grazed. Only two Juniperus virginiana and no sign of stumps or burning so this bluff prairie was never overgrown with Juniperus and then restored.
Occurrence Remarks:
Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw.; Patch of scattered stems, maximum 1.4 m. tall, 0.7 cm in diameter, to 9 years old; lenticels small, tan. No flowers or fruits but recognizable by habit and shiny leaves.
