Habitat:
Woody vine climbing to 10m. from ground into Pinus strobus in planted windbreak of P. strobus and P. resinosa between Button Cemetary and farm field, flat, somewhat sandy soil.
Occurrence Remarks:
Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw, wood specimen from the climbing stem.; Stem 7.5 cm. in diameter , 16 years old, tightly held to tree trunk by adventitious roots, but older stem not producing new adventitious roots; sap milky when stem first cut but soon turning inky black and hardening. Leaves and inflorescences from much more slender horizontal branches to 4 m. long. In full flower; flowers yellow-green.
