Habitat:
Occurs in black ash seepage swamp at toe of St. Croix Valley slope about 1.2 km SW of the river. Growing in partial canopy (60%) of black ash, red maple and yellow birch and Ostrya virginiana subcanopy. Slow, seepage flow on muck between abundant hummocks of Carex bromoides interspersed with Symplocarpus foetidus. This kind of zone is not widespread along this portion of valley slope and Poa paludigena is found here but not in other, adjacent seepage zones with less Carex bromoides and more Carex lacustris or Laportea canadensis. Here, it grows on mossy tussocks with Laportea, Glyceria striata, Galium asprellum, Hydrocotyle americana, Viola sp, Stellaria longifolia, and Poa alsodes. Just N of an old dike or raised trail in the swamp.
