Habitat: Occurs at the edge of a small, swiftly flowing streamlet in a small, narrow, incised ravine. Forest in ravine is, locally, a mesic oak forest with a few fine, old Quercus macrocarpa, Q. ellipsoidalis/rubra (species not certain), Acer rubrum and Tilia americana. In general, slopes are dominated by Osmunda claytoniana with Aralia nudicaulis, Aster macrophyllus, and Hepatica americana. The stream edge is dominated by Symplocarpus foetidus, Carex bromoides, and Glyceria striata. Poa paludigena is growing on stream bank over water partly shaded by Corylus cornuta and Ostrya virginiana; it is growing with C. bromoides, Chrysosplenium americanum, Onoclea sensibilis, Amphicarpa bracteata, Athyrium filix-femina, and rare, Hydrocotyle americana. Poa alsodes is also present; occasional.
