Habitat:
Occurs in distinct, mucky, black ash, seepage swamp perched mid-slope above the Trade River. Growing on mossy log among the particularly large, lush plants in the swamp. In partial sun; canopy 60% black ash, 10% yellow birch. Abundant Symplocarpus foetidus with Carex bromoides, Onoclea sensibilis, Impatiens capensis seedlings, Carex stipata, Dryopteris cristata, Galium asprellum, Saxifraga pennsylvanica, and Glyceria striata. Searched the area well but only found on the log (unlike the fairly common Poa alsodes on sand and muck).
