Habitat: Plants occasional in mesic to wet-mesic hardwood forest. Canopy dominated by Quercus macrocarpa, Acer rubrum, Ulmus sp. Subcanopy of Ostrya virginiana. Associates include Claytonia virginica, Trillium grandiflorum, Allium tricoccum, Hydrophyllum virginianum, Viola pubescens, Athyrium filix-femina, Botrypus virginiana.
