Habitat: Southern hardwood swamp with Fraxinus pensylvanica. F. nigra present but minor. Shrub layer sparse, ground layer lush on dry, mineral soil despite avg to wet summer. With Aster lateriflorus, Boehmeria cylindrica, Glyceria striata.
Occurrence Remarks: Common with numerous specimens 14-18" dbh, to 36".
