Habitat: Marshy areas and cow pasture, with Acer negundo, A. saccharinum.
Occurrence Remarks: Salix fragilis is common and conspicuous, the leaves shiny above and prominently glaucous beneath, large trees, some over a meter in diameter, with little or no reproduction, the vigorous "young" trees are mostly from fallen over trucks which now have branches growing upwards. Salix nigra is as common, the trees smaller, but with reproduction and trees of all sizes.; Large tree.
