Habitat:
Early successional pine barren. Mostly herbaceous vegetation with some scattered woody species mostly 2-3 ft tall. Growing with Quercus macrocarpa, Quercus ellipsoidalis, Corylus, Salix humilis, Andropogon gerardii, Schizachyrium scoparium, Bromus kalmii, Artemisia ludoviciana, Artemisia campestris, Liatris sp., Ceanothus herbaceus, Helianthus sp., Pteridium aquilinum, and Crocanthemum bicknellii.
