Habitat: Sand prairie embedded w/in mosaic of barrens cover types on the extensive, gently rolling Central Plain uplands, ground-layer dry to mesic prairie & oak & sand barrens spp.; Sand.
Associated Species: Schizachyrium scoparium [Andropogon gerardii in other spots] locally dominant; prevalent: Amorpha canescens, Coreopsis palmata, Euphorbia corollata, Helianthus occidentalis, Koeleria macrantha, Monarda fistulosa, Oenothera parviflora, Solidago ptarmicoides, Symphyotrichum oolentangiense; also Lupinus perennis
Occurrence Remarks: Collected as part of the Third Annual Wisconsin Botanical Foray.; Grows in patches; most past flowering.
