Habitat: Along floodplain of creek, old fields or pastures and along farm road, becoming overgrown and brushy. With Acer negundo, Salix amygdaloides, S eriocephala, S. exigua, Sambucus canadensis, Melilotus albus.
Occurrence Remarks: Shrubs, Inflorescence with red-purple branches and darker purple immature fruit. This same spot and perhaps even the same plant collected in flower on 10 July 2018 under Nee 64370.
