Habitat:
Broad ridgetop, rich soil. Old field vegetation, planted to mostly Quercus macrocarpa, these still small and scattered. Daucus carota, Bromus inermis, Setaria lutescens, Dactylis glomerata, Lactuca scariola. At edge of fringing woods of Populus grandidentata, prunus serotina, Quercus rubra, Q. velutina, Prunus americana.
Occurrence Remarks:
Patch of shrubs 2.2 m. tall. Leaves smooth above. Inflorescence branches bright red; fruit greenish white.
