Habitat: Steep W-facing slope now being converted to savanna, with Quercus alba, Q. macrocarpa, Q. velutina, Betula papyrifera, formerly with a dense understory of Lonicera x bella and/or the two parents.
Occurrence Remarks: This is the only shrub of this species known from this 60-acre property, evidently a casual escape and no indication that it was planted. Shrub 3.5 m. tall, 4,8 cm. in diameter, ca. 25 years old, with 8 large, mastly arching stems this size in tight clump, with smaller replacement shoots. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. Only a few green fruits.
