Habitat: Growing along edge of wooded ravine in understory of mature beech-maple forest a short distance from County Hwy. Growing in association with Viburnum lentago, V. opulus, Cornus alternifolia, C. rugosa, Fagus grandifolia, Acer saccharum, Betula paprifera, Picea glauce, and Lonicera mackii.
Occurrence Remarks: 15 ft. uncommon shrub. Mature berries black; immature berries red.
