Habitat:
Site on sandy soil but good growth conditions because of top 10 inches of dark sandy loam. Associated with burr oak, red maple, Carya cordiformis, black cherry, basswood, Ostrya, and "white ash". Understory of Hepatica, Aster, maidenhair fern, grass, tick pea. "Northern Red Oak". DBH 18.6". Total Ht. 65-70 feet. Outwardly a good tree but has microorganisms in heartwood (not stained) and root core.\r\n\r\nSample Tree No. 71-9.
