Plants: weak perennial, to 20" tall forb; stems with many angled branches; from rhizomes
Leaves: opposite, narrow, linear, usually narrowing toward the stem
Flowers: white, 5-parted, 1/4" wide, stalked, petals none or shorter than the sepals; inflorescence a drooping, terminal, branched cluster (cyme); blooms May-Aug.
Fruits: oval to oblong capsule
Habitat: shade; moist
