Plants: erect, biennial, to 4 1/2' tall forb; fibrous roots Leaves: 3-parted into palm-like shape; leaflets coarsely double-toothed and often deeply lobed; stalks getting shorter toward top Flowers: white, 5-parted, sepals longer than the petals; inflorescence an irregular, compound umbel with 2-7 flowers per umbellet, female flowers stalkless; blooms June-July Fruits: oblong, dry with hooked bristles, splitting into 2 seeds Habitat: shade; woods Conservation Status: Native |
