Plants: perennial, submersed aquatic; stems robust; spreading rhizomes Leaves: alternate, entire, with prominent midvein; strongly 2-ranked, feather-like, firm, linear, wrapping stem; closely spaced, finely serrated edges Flowers: green-brown, small, stalk from upper leaf axils; inflorescence spike of whorls Fruits: dry seed with a sharp dorsal ridge and 2 rounded lateral ridges, fruit rarely develops Habitat: deeper water Conservation Status: Native |
