Etymology: Nuphar: ultimately from the Persian word nufar
Plants: floating, perennial aquatic
Leaves: both submerged and floating; floating leaves 2"-4" long and broadly oval; stalks flat on the upper side
Flowers: yellow, 7 or more-parted, 3/4" wide, usually with 5 sepals; solitary; blooms June-Aug.
Habitat: ponds
