Etymology: Matricaria: from the Latin matrix, "the womb," the plant once having been used as a cure for female disorders
Plants: low, erect, annual, 1"-18" tall, branched forb with a pineapple odor; stems leafy and smooth Leaves: alternate, 1 to 3 times pinnately-divided into very narrow segments Flowers: head 3/8" wide, egg-shaped with yellow disk flower; inflorescence of several to many heads in a branched cluster; blooms May-Sept. Fruits: dry seed with no fluffy pappus Habitat: disturbed sites Conservation Status: Introduced - naturalized
