Etymology: Hydrophyllum: Greek hydro for "water" and phyllon, "leaf" Plants: erect, biennial, 1'-4' tall forb; taprooted Leaves: main stem leaves roundish in outline with 5-7 shallow, palmately-divided lobes Flowers: lavender to pink, 5-parted, 1/3"-1/2" wide, lobes almost the same length as the tube; inflorescence a branched, very hairy cluster (cyme) held above the upper leaves; blooms May-July Habitat: moderate moisture; woods, forests; in rich soil Conservation Status: Special Concern
