Etymology: Hydrocotyle: from Greek hydor, "water," and kotyle, "a small cup"
Plants: creeping, perennial forb; stems very thin; rooting from stems nodes Leaves: long, round to broadly oval, 1/4"-2 1/4" wide, 6-10 shallow lobes but not divided Flowers: white, 5-parted; inflorescence an unbranched, flat umbel with 2-7 stalkless flower-groups per umbel (no umbellets); blooms June-Sept. Fruits: dry, splitting into 2 seeds - fruit: ![]() ![]() Habitat: moist; marshes, springs, swamps Conservation Status: Native |
