Plants: erect, perennial, 2'-5' tall forb; stems clustered; fibrous roots
Leaves: alternate, not slivery, mostly hairless, linear, usually undivided leaf drawing
Flowers: head yellow; inflorescence large, open, branched clusters; blooms July-Sept.
Fruits: elliptical, dry seed
Habitat: sun; dry
