Leaves: divided more than once, feathery or fern-like, lower leaves opposite, upper leaves alternate
Flowers: inflorescence of many, small, green, bead-like heads on 6" spikes; blooms Aug.-Sept.
Fruits: seeds not on fluffy pappus
Habitat: disturbed sites
