Flowers: blue with a pale center ring, 5-parted, 1" wide, wheel-shaped; long, curving, white, protruding style; inflorescence solitary or in a small, mostly stalkless cluster from the leaf axils forming a long, terminal spike; blooms July-Sept.
Fruits: capsule
