Habitat: Secondary forest with Populus tremuloides, Pinus resinosa, Betual papyrifera, Prunus pensylvanica, Picea glauca.
Notes: Slender shrub, 2.5 m. tall, the stems to 1.6 cm. in diameter, 5 years old. Scattered at edge of forest road, nearly closed up logging road, not marshy. Voucher for wood specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw. No flowers or fruits at this time of year. Leaves glaucous beneath.
