Habitat:
In shallow water right up against the shoreline in semishade of overhanging trees & shrubs (a thicket of Myrica gale, Frangula alnus, & Rosa palustris). Assoc. with Calla palustris & Dulichium arundinaceum. Lake water with M.P.M. total alkalinity of 52 ppm.
Notes:
Rhizomatous, forming an extremely dense, hard floating mat. Water with total alkalinity (M.P.M.) 52 ppm.
