Habitat:
Semishade of thin secondary woodland (Ulmus pumila-Fraxinus pennsylvanica-Acer negundo-Populus deltoides-Juglans nigra) bordering intermittent drainage way, not in moist channel bottom but spreading along both upland sides for 2 m into adjoining open lawns, where kept in check by regular moving. Population ovate-oblong in outline, the two long zones 195 (NE side) & 172 (SW side) × 5–30 m either side of the trough-shaped depression turning & closing on one another where sunnier at top of causeway (separate patches stretching for 163 m) & at 11th St. (joined to form a continuous end 48 m long).
Occurrence Remarks:
Sheet 5 of 5. Primocanes erect, low, yellow-green, glaucous; floricanes arching to almost prostrate, very slender, subcanopy in height and knitting all stems together into a massive, extremely dense, mattress-like thicket 0.75–0.9 (1.1) m high; flrs very few, evident mostly on floricanes; petals white.
