Habitat:
Open areas with low prairie species (Hasteola suaveolens, Eupatorium maculatum, Cirsium muticum) and with some Cornus amomum, Salix spp., Alnus rugosa, Ulmus americana, the surrounding extensive deep marsh with Typha, Sagittaria, Sparganium and Cyperaceae.
Occurrence Remarks:
Erect herbs, scattered. Inflorescences pale creamy yellowish green, but phyllaries purple at tip in bud; flowers with penetrating fragrance.
