Habitat: Semishade of thin secondary woodland (Ulmus pumila-Fraxinus pennsylvanica-Acer negundo-Populus deltoides-Juglans nigra) bordering intermittent drainage way, not in moist channel bottom but spreading along both upland sides for 2 m into adjoining open lawns, where kept in check by regular moving.
Notes: Sheet 1 of 5. Primocanes erect, low, yellow-green, glaucous; floricanes arching to almost prostrate, very slender, subcanopy in height and knitting all stems together into a massive, extremely dense, mattress-like thicket 0.75
