Habitat: Forest, on flat area, with Populus tremuloides, Betula papyrifera, Picea glauca, Acer rubrum, and Ilex verticillata in the understory.
Notes: Shrub 4.5 m. tall, the stems in a tight clump, the collected stem 3.5 cm. in diameter, 23 years old. Voucher for wood specimens in Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. Fruit very immature, green.
