Locality: United States, Wisconsin, Price, 20 km. ENE of Park Falls, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Along Forest Road 642, 1 km. NE of junction with Hwy 182

Habitat: Forest of Pinus resinosa and some Acer rubrum, on gentle slopes, with Corylus cornuta, Cornus alternifolia, Rubus parviflorus in the understory.
Notes: Erect shrublets, usually unbranched, or with 1-3 branches, stems to 0.5 cm. in diameter; pith light tan, occupying most of the stem. Voucher for wood specimens in Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw. Leafy twigs and fruit on growth of second year.
