Habitat: A spontaneous, native species here, at edge of Pinus strobus plantation, and along small creek, with Acer negundo, Juglans nigra and planted Thuja occidentalis. Only growing where unshaded.
Occurrence Remarks: Patch (a clone?), mature, this the largest size attained here, 10 m tall, 15.5 cm in diameter, 17 years old. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Leafless, still with erect bright red fruiting inflorescence from previous year. Sap sticky white, exuded from phloem.
