Habitat: With scattered Populus deltoides, Corylus americana, Alnus rugosa, just slightly higher than marshy area dominated by Phalaris arundinacea in floodplain of Pine river.
Notes: Clumps with ca. 10 stems, up to 6 m. tall, this stem 8.5 cm. in diameter, 15 years old, the stems reaching this size or a little larger, then, being replaced by smaller stems. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw; a different stem but almost certainly from this same genetic individual collected with mature leaves on 5 July 2014 under no. 61284. Staminate; anthers yellow
