Habitat: Edge of young woods of Populus grandidentata, Zanthoxylum americanum, Prunus americana, Ulmus americana, U. rubra, Fraxinus americana, at edge of old agricultural fields now being burned and established as prairie.
Notes: Small tree 15 cm in diameter. Fruit light yellow-green with reddish spot over the seed swelling; see Nee 62101 for a nearby tree with similar fruit but without the reddish spot.
