Habitat: Strip of dry prairie and thin woodland with Quercus ellipsoidalis, Pinus banksiana, Comptonia peregrina. Very flat, sandy soil.
Notes: A slender shrub 2.1 m tall, 1.6 cm in diameter; bark smooth except for lenticels. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Buds only.
