Habitat: Unshaded fenceline between cultivated fields of Zea mays and Glycine max. Flat, broad valley of river, but just above the floodplain, unshaded, with Corylus americana, Phalaris arundinacea, Cornus racemosa, Sambucus canadensis, Ambrosia trifida, Ilex verticillata and saplings of Acer saccharinum, Quercus macrocarpa and Prunus virginiana.
Notes: Patch (undoubtedly a clone) of many stems to 3 m tall and 3.3 cm in diameter, mostly smaller. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Along 6 m of fencerow. From same patch (clone) as (Nee 61590, fr. 8 Sept. 2014). A similar patch (undoubtedly also a clone) of staminate plants about 50 m away (Nee 62261, fl, 16 June 2015).
