Habitat: Forest of Acer saccharum, Quercus rubra, Fraxinus nigra, Ostrya virginiana.
Notes: Shrub 1.5 m tall; stems flexible, to 3.2 cm in diameter, the wood soft. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Leaves with characteristic leaf miners (probably Leucanthiza dircella (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae)). No flowers or fruits now.
