Habitat:
Pine Barren in sand prairie with scattered small trees and low shrubs. Growing with Quercus macrophylla, Q. rubra, Comptonia peregrina, Diervilla lonicera, Achillea millefolium, Andropogon gerardii, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Carex pensylvanica, Heucherea richardsonii, Hieracium scabrum, Liatris aspera, Solidago hispida, S. speciosa, etc.
