Habitat: Pine Barren in sand prairie with scattered small trees and low shrubs. Growing with Quercus macrophylla, Q. rubra, Comptonia peregrina, Diervilla lonicera, Achillea millefolium, Andropogon gerardii, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Carex pensylvanica, Heucherea richardsonii, Hieracium scabrum, Liatris aspera, Solidago hispida, S. speciosa, etc.
Occurrence Remarks: Analysis of the Vegetative Cover of the Brule River Watershed, Revisited 2015-2018. Shrub about 1 foot tall.
