Habitat: Pine Barren, sandy soil along sandy roadside. Growing with Quercus ellipsoidalis, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, Comptonia peregrina, Corylus americana, Andropogon gerardii, Aristida basiramea, Cyperus houghtonii, Digitaria ischaemum, Polygonella articulata, Symphyotrichum oolentangiense, etc.
