Habitat:
Open wood or savanna on a gentle slope of a hill in very loose, sandy soil. Area dominated by Quercus ellipsoidalis and some Q. rubra. With Pteridium aquilinum, Andropogon Gerardii, Rudbeckia hirta, Campanula rotundifolia, Lysimachia quadrifolia, Fragaria virginiana (?), Carex pensylvanica (?).
Notes:
Originally collected by R.R. Kowal, 1995 Jul 27; plants with abundant elongate underground stolons; leaves usually lightly tomentose beneath, but glabrous in one individual. Population "Fort McCoy", individual 4B, grown in Test Garden 5, position L10. FL-DT = MAY 19, LHA-N = 12.
