Latitude/Longitude was derived from the Township, Range, Section location. This causes an imprecision.
Heavily grazed, savanna-like pasture on WSW facing hillside, just E of Nee's barn. With Quercus macrocarpa, Ulmus rubra & Acer rubrum in sward of Poa compressa; with Verbena stricta. Humus-rich, sandy soil on light orange sandstone (which Mike Nee says might be calcareous). Harry Nee said that he had to add K to get best growth of alfalfa in the field below this slope but that Ca was present in adequate amounts for alfalfa.
Originally collected by R.R. Kowal, 1971 Nov 25; directed to the population by Michael Nee. All originally collected rosette leaves completely glabrous; no adventitious shoots on roots seen. Population "Nee's Farm", individual 2A, grown in Test Garden 2, position F33. Voucher for chromsome count of Individual 3A (not vouchered): 2n = 22 II, 10 cells counted (1972 Mar 31 & Apr 2).
