Habitat: Savanna; abundant on hillsides facing lake. Grassy slopes beneath Quercus macrocarpa and depression between the hills. SW facing hillside in open sun.
Notes: In bud; adventitious shoots on roots. Individual 3 (robust individual). Voucher for chromosome count: 2n = 22 II, 5 cells counted (1972 Nov 22). The clump was suspected to be tetraploid because of its robustness, but it was diploid. On Spring Flora (Botany 401) examination of Kurt Schmidt & Vallerie Mellerop.
