Habitat: Lower edge of dry-mesic prairie on N-facing slope, 5--10 yds. above corn field, associated with mostly native shrubs and herbs: Poa compressa (dominant), Agrostis gigantea (abundant), Cornus racemosa, Euphorbia corollata, Euthamia graminifolia (very abundant), Helianthus pauciflorus, Lobelia spicata, Dichanthelium leibergii, Heterostipa spartea, Ratibida pinnata, and Solidago canadensis s.l.
