Habitat: Mature northern mesic forest (Acer saccharum-Fagus grandifolia) atop mile-long, 50- to 60-ft.-high old wooded sand dunes; shrubs: Amelanchier sp., Corylus cornuta (rare); herbs: Aralia nudicaulis (abundant), Carex arctata (common), C. communis, C. ormostachya (occasional), Dryopteris intermedia, Huperzia lucidula, Lycopodium annotinum, Polygonatum pubescens, Polygonum cilinode (uncommon), Trientalis borealis (abundant), and Uvularia sessilifolia (occasional).
Notes: Very abundant (I've never seen so much of this species in any one place).
